Fonetic Friday: Word of the Day

Fonetic Friday: Word of the Day

Hey, you know those cool words they make you type when you comment on a blog, the ones that prevent spammers from commenting? If they were real words, what would they mean? See if you can come up with a definition and use it in a sentence.

Today’s word is: Tyfero

HAVE FUN! AND HAPPY FRIDAY?

Tyfero: A new disease characterized by a dry hacking cough, high fever, and weeping eyes.

I came down with tyfero and coughed up a lung.

  1. Ha, this is awesome! I have often wondered about the verification words. I like the idea of applying a meaning to them for giggles. I like your definiion--how could I compete with weeping eyes and stuff?

  2. Kind of like typhoid?

Here's mine: Tyfero, noun. A distinct and completely rational fear of being stuck in a Typhoon.

  5. When I say Tyfero, I immediately thought that must have been Shakespeare's original name for Romeo.

Tyfero, o Tyfero, wherefore art thou, Tyfero?

  7. Hi Melissa! The word verifications always crack me up. I thought some kind of disease too when I saw tyfero. And my word verification for this comment was swalsnif, which would be another sympton of tyfero. Swalsnif: the act of sniffing and swallowing your snot at the same time. :)
