I’m always looking for questions to ask my characters; anything to pull them out of their shell and see how they act in foreign territory. I wondered what it would be like if my characters participated in other Middle Grade and Young Adult stories. How would they act in Narnia, or at Hogwarts? It’s interesting to see how your characters act in a completely different setting.
Interview questions for your character based on “Chronicals of Narnia.”
1)If your character found a secret land in a wardrobe, who would they share it with?
2)Would your character align themselves with “dark forces” to reach their goal, even if their goal is to do something good/positive?
3)Does your character have any relatives or authority figures that mean them harm? How do they combat this?
4)How would your character react to unexpectedly being pulled out of their world, into a foreign land?
5)Would your character adapt to their new environment and resist returning to the “real world” or would they try to get back throughout.
Hahaha--I don't know why I thought this was so funny ... maybe because I've never seen that movie, so some of the questions caught me as odd (and funny).
ReplyDeleteThe answers my characters would have to these questions would be good! Or they might just run and hide. LoL

Funny thing is my character does a few of those things, so I really need to know the answer.
ReplyDeletelol most of my characters must make at least three of those choices. so it's very relevant.
ReplyDelete:-)
great questions for understanding the characters.
ReplyDeleteLOL. Great questions. I'll have to ask my new mc. :D
ReplyDeleteI'm finally getting around to answering my own questions today. I'm going to pick a character I'm having a lot of trouble with from my new WIP. He's about as far from Narnia as you can get, but I'm going to try send him into the wardrobe.
ReplyDelete1)Jax would probably not share it with anyone unless he had to. He already thinks he's going crazy, well in truth he is pretty nuts. If he told someone he found a secret land, they'd know he was out of his mind. On the other hand if he and the rest of the Dukes needed to escape from Sprag and his rangers, he'd lead his group in there. They'd follow him, even if he didn't tell them where they were going.
2) It depends on what dark forces, but he might. Jax has some pretty dark thoughts. If anything, he'd align himself with dark forces so that William wouldn't have to. If there was no other way, he'd do it to spare William.
3) Not authority figures, but the closest thing Jax has to relatives are the Dukes. One of them has betrayed him and the other. He suspects this, but can't prove it.
4) Jax is pretty quick to adapt to things. He'd probably find a way to blend in if possible, make contact with people that can give him the 411 and find a way to fit in.
5) Jax is pretty accepting. He doesn't try to fight his fate. He goes with the flow, and adapts. Sometimes this can be bad. He can become very fatalistic. Instead of saying, this sucks I'm going to go the heck back to Kansas, he's more likely to say, this sucks I'll deal with it as long as I can and then check out.
I followed you home from Emily White's site (even tho she hasn't posted your Goober yet today). Very interesting question you posed! Never thought of that one.
ReplyDeleteAnd I just wanted to say, WOW, what a PRETTY site! I love the colors and the backgrounds you chose. Pink and green, love 'em!! It's so fresh looking, like...um, bubble gum and mint, or something. LOL
I'm using Eva this time:
ReplyDelete1)She'd share it with Richard, but the Myrkvera boy would sneak in after them ;)
2)No.
3)Nasty foster parents that are indifferent to her needs and well-being. She shuts herself away so that she doesn't have to deal with them.
4)She would be helpless! She wouldn't know what to do, just like she doesn't know what to do in the real world.
5)She would want to stay. The real world isn't as interesting as Narnia!
