What Would Your Character Say/Do Wednesday

I’m always looking for questions to ask my characters; anything to pull them out of their shell and see how they act in foreign territory. I wondered what it would be like if my characters participated in other Middle Grade and Young Adult stories. How would they act in Narnia, or at Hogwarts? It’s interesting to see how your characters act in a completely different setting.

Interview questions for your character based on “Thirteen Reasons Why.”

1)Does your character have a crush or hidden admiration for someone that they haven’t shared with that person?

2)Has your character been let down by the adults/authority figures in their life? How did they respond?

3)What is your characters “reputation” in their school/community? Is the reputation well earned? What will your character do to change their reputation?

4)If your character moved to a new school/community, would they worry about making friends? What clique/club/group would they wind up in?

5)What kind of catastrophe, if any, would cause your character to reach a point of no return?

  1. I see you're a cat person. I have a cat piece on my blog you might like.

  2. I'm going to use Milo as my character again, because my new WIP is pretty heavy, 13 Reason's Why is very heavy, and Milo is..., well Milo is only heavy in the sense that he's an overweight, zombie rabbit. So here goes.'

1: Milo has a huge crush on Bonnie Bunny, but he hasn't told her, mainly becaue he's a bit lazy, and scared to put himself out there. Lucky for Milo, Bonnie knows how he feels wihtout him saying so.

    2. Milo's parents kicked him out of the burrow at age 1 like any good rabbit parents. But when he tried to get their help to find Rosco, they told him he stank and ran him off again. But Milo didn't let him get him down. It's just what he expected being the middle child of 168.

    3. Milo was the "space cadet" in school. He was always day dreaming, and sometimes just down right dreaming, since he frequently fell asleep in school.

    4. Milo has 72 brothers and 95 sisters so there are always plenty of rabbits to hang with. The fact that they can't remember his name and frequently call him "Bruce" stings a bit, but Milo's got a pretty thick skin. In school he always tends to gravitate toward the slackers, where he can really shine.

5.It's not likely that Milo would take his own life because... hey, he's a rabbit. He frequently acts suicidal, running out in front of cars and then aiming for their wheels, but that's just air-headedness on Milo's part. The incident with the truck was shere stupidity on Milo's part. He saw some dandilions across the road and ran out without thinking. But now that he's a zombie, the real turning point for him is when his friend Red sacrafices himself for Milo.

So, very silly I know, but that's just the kind of guy Milo is.

  3. I'll answer a few-
Tess has been seriously let down by her mother, but she doesn't share her feelings, letting the resentment grow inside her.
As for her reputation-she's kind of quiet and to herself. She has a few good friends, but no GREAT friends that she is close to. Has always kind of distanced herself due to circumstances in her life.
And point of no return? Well, if she doesn't save the world from ending, she is in big trouble.
